Using Limestone sand with straight Natural Hydraulic limes along with embedded abalone shells or a cut-away Nautilus shell, as viewed here, will allow you to polish the plaster beautifully as the limestones and binder all evenly wear together to a fine finish during the polishing technique. Regular silica sand grains may pop out and pit a surface which in some cases may be a desired effect as well
